About
Who I Am
I'm Mike Broekhof—a Chartered Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor based in the Netherlands.
By day, I work in internal audit. By night (and increasingly by day), I'm experimenting with AI orchestration, automation, and what happens when knowledge work gets disrupted from the inside.
I've spent over a decade building expertise in governance, risk, and controls. Recently, I've started questioning how much of that expertise survives contact with AI systems that can replicate 70-80% of knowledge-driven work.
What I Believe
- We're in an industrial revolution. Most people don't understand what that means yet, and time is not on their side.
- Knowledge work is in the blast zone. Anything that is "conditions versus criteria" will be automated. The question is not if, but when.
- The only way out is through. You cannot hide from AI. You have to run faster. That means experimenting, documenting, and publishing.
- Value is shifting. From "knowing things" to "designing systems." From "assurance" to "resilience." From "credentials" to "capability."
- Professional sovereignty matters. Your identity cannot be tied to your employer's logo. You are the asset.
Why This Site
This is an experiment in thinking out loud.
Writing forces clarity. Publishing creates accountability. And if I'm right about where knowledge work is heading, being early and loud about it is my safety net.
The perspective here is unapologetically from the inside—a knowledge worker watching their own profession get disrupted, and trying to run faster than the wave.
